Go Jauntly’s Hana Sutch Joins Clare Balding on BBC Radio 4's Ramblings
From discovering the joy of walking to building an award-winning app – hear Hana's story and walk the same South London route on Go Jauntly.
We're thrilled to share that Go Jauntly CEO and Co-Founder Hana Sutch recently went for a jaunt with Clare Balding for BBC Radio 4's beloved Ramblings podcast. The episode airs today (Thursday 12th February at 3pm) and is available on catch-up. The episode explores Hana's personal journey from non-walker to walking advocate plus the inspiration behind creating Go Jauntly.
A Journey from Northumberland to South London
Hana didn't grow up in a family that walked for pleasure. But everything changed in her twenties when a visit to her husband's native Northumberland introduced her to the calming power of putting one foot in front of the other. Walking became more than exercise – it became a source of peace, connection, and joy.
Years later, as a new parent in London, Hana struggled to find accessible green spaces. That frustration sparked an idea: what if there was an app that made it easy for anyone to discover walks nearby, navigate easily and feel confident exploring outdoors?
Go Jauntly was born from that need – and despite big players in the field telling her she'd never succeed, Hana and our small team of four have built a multi award-winning app now used by tens of thousands of walkers worldwide.
The Walk: A 4-Mile Urban Circular Through South London
For the BBC Ramblings episode, Hana and Clare took a 4-mile urban circular route starting in Ladywell in London. Trying to avoid main roads as much as possible, they walked up and around Hilly Fields, down to Ladywell Fields, onto Blythe Hill, enjoying incredible London views and finished within Brockley and Ladywell Cemeteries.
It's a perfect example of the kind of walk Go Jauntly celebrates – accessible, green and full of hidden nature right in the heart of a city.
