Whether you're filling the school holidays, walking the dog, or just after a decent stretch of the legs, we've added a fresh batch of free walks across Liverpool City Region and Birmingham, live now on the Go Jauntly app.
From wildlife spotting and panoramic city views to a canal-side scavenger hunt and a slice of local history, there's a route for every kind of walker and wheeler. All easily accessible by public transport.
New walking routes in Liverpool
Distance: 2.3 km | 1.4 mi
Duration: 1 hour 25 minutes
A step-free and wheel-friendly Botanic garden walking route packed with flora. There’s a kids' playground along the way if you've got little ones in tow. A must-visit walk. Perfect for a little weekend wander or a lunch-time stroll. Easy accessible by public transport.

A quiet lakeside circular stroll past water birds, easy to fit into a lunch break or a lazy Sunday. Enjoy bird and nature spotting. Great family-friendly walk or something to do with friends. Bring a picnic.

The ultimate Liverpool awe-walk. Starts at Whitley Gardens, passes by the Everton Lock-Up with panoramic views over the city, finishing at Liverpool's portrait bench sculpture. A good one for photos and even better during golden hour. While away your weekend in the city.

Enjoy Lakeside views on a step-free wheel-friendly walking route, easy for buggies, wheelchairs and anyone who fancies flat ground. Along the way, you’ll happen across the Nelson Mandela Memorial and visit Judy the Donkey’s grave. There’s a fantastic kids playground en-route. You can also discover a Princes Park Scavenger Hunt on-site which is perfect for the little ones.
New walks in Birmingham
Distance: 4.7 km | 2.9 mi
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Fantastic circular walk that includes a community farm and one of the city's best spots for plane spotting, whatever age you are. This one is step-free with a small section over grass. There’s also a great tearoom on-site. A nature in the city walk for everyone.
Distance: 2.4 km | 1.5 mi
Duration: 1 hour 5 minutes
A circular walk around canals, the Roundhouse and Black Sabbath Bridge, with prompts that work as well for a group of young-at-heart friends as they do for kids. There’s also a play area at the end. Starts and ends at Brindleyplace Metro stop.

Another really lovely circular walk featuring a great variety of trees and a cafe on site, good for a slow morning walk, an afternoon stroll or a walk for the weekend. There’s a cafe on-site. Easily accessible via public transport.

Learn about Birmingham’s unique historic quarter on this walking tour. The Jewellery Quarter walk is packed full of history and interesting streets, quirky museums and two nature-filled Victorian cemeteries. A great city walk and a great day out.

A new partnership
These walks are part of a new programme of activity called This City Moves, a partnership between Go Jauntly, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, Birmingham City Council and National Trust, funded by the UK Government and Active Travel England.

Liverpool and Birmingham are about to go head to head. Later this year we're launching a city-wide walking and wheeling challenge, Birmingham vs Liverpool, built on nothing more than walking for wellbeing, friendly rivalry and bragging rights.
