The best way to see the UK? You guessed it!

Getting away for a few days is a great way to relax and unwind. But if you really want to get to know a place in the short time you’re there, walking is probably the best way to do it.

We’ve teamed up with England and Wales holiday company, Original Cottages, who offer more than 5,800 properties in beautiful locations from Cornwall to Cumbria, and Suffolk to Snowdonia. Here are their best walking holiday destinations, perfect for charting and curating your own brilliant walks.

Yorkshire Dales

There are heaps of places to stay in the Yorkshire Dales where idyllic walks wind past your front door. Stay on the Pennine Way, and incorporate a few miles of this monster march into your routes. Or head out amongst the wild expanses of purple heather near Malham to uncover panoramic views, spectacular waterfalls and rugged rock formations.

North Devon Coast

Stand atop the cliffs near Ilfracombe, Devon, where rocks are left jagged by the lashing waves and seabirds seem to somersault through the air. This is what it means to feel alive! Or, for a slightly more relaxed pace, venture inland to wander between pretty fishing villages and bustling market towns – then post your route for all to see!

South Wales

The village of Saundersfoot is perfect to strike out along the coast – and you might just discover sights like an island fort accessible only at low tide, at nearby Tenby. Further east, meanwhile, scale the Black Mountains of the Brecon Beacons, or find a route that shows off the mountains at their best from a more civilised vantage point…

Wherever you stay, we hope you enjoy some wonderful walks – let us know how you get on! Book a property at one of these beautiful places or at any other Original Cottages’ destination now.
